初緣，疏中作尼三眾，除俗女不犯此戒。第二一比丘一尼，已外有人，名第三人；不簡道俗男女，有即非犯。第三緣，疏云：緣中門外同坐，止是露攝；戒本明屏，故知雙結（《戒本》云：在屏覆處坐。），準知屏露合制。

For the first condition, in the Commentary it comprises the three assemblies of bhikṣuṇīs; excluding laywomen, there is no violation of this precept. For the second, outside of one bhikṣu and one bhikṣuṇī, if there is another person, they are called the third person; regardless of monastic or lay, male or female, if present, then it is not an offense. For the third condition, the Commentary says: "Sitting together outside the gate in the conditions is merely subsumed under the open air; the Prātimokṣa Sūtra clarifies a secluded spot, hence we know both are concluded (the Prātimokṣa Sūtra says: 'sitting in a secluded, covered place'); following this, we know the secluded and the open are combined in the prohibition."
