2.1223

不犯為三。初先與後遣；若病下二緣，先遣後送；若破戒等，不與而遣。文令方便，反明嫌心非無小過。

No violation is divided into three parts: first, giving [food] first and then sending him away; the two circumstances from "if sick" onward mean sending him away first and then delivering [food]; "if breaching precepts, etc.," means sending him away without giving [food]. The text enjoins expedient means, which conversely clarifies that a resentful mind is not without minor fault.
