持犯名義，如下名字門自釋。持謂執持，犯即侵犯；竝從本受，而建斯名。篇列七門，遍該法界，是開解之龜鏡，實立行之楷模。解行所憑，故云方軌。

The name and meaning of maintenance and violation are explained below in the section on names. 'Maintenance' means holding firmly; 'violation' means encroaching upon and violating. Both are named in accordance with the original reception [of the precepts]. The chapter sets out seven sections, which universally encompass the Dharma realm; it is a mirror of discernment for opening understanding, and truly a model for establishing practice. Because it is what understanding and practice rely upon, it is called a standard guideline.
