In terms of faculties: first the heading. From 'if' below, the explanation. If discussing failing to learn, it universally applies from beginning to end, with no difference among the three faculties. For the offense of ignorance, the stages are divided into three: those of superior faculties do not wait for five rains retreats, hence it says 'two offenses from beginning to end' (some say 'suddenly incurring two offenses', which is incorrect; failing to learn has sudden, but ignorance has no sudden); those of middling faculties incur it after five rains retreats (the meaning is seen in the previous section, hence not repeated here); those of inferior faculties are never imputed. The text clarifies sharp and dull without explicitly showing middling faculties; by taking the meaning from the previous section, the three faculties are complete.
