In expanding broadly again, it first indicates the marks of the contemplation to be cultivated. 'Lack of nature' is the principle of emptiness. From 'because...' downward, it explains the reason offenses are eradicated: all worldly karmas are born from the self, with the self as the lord of karma; since the self has nothing to rely upon, the good and evil created do not arise from the inversion of the self; because delusive karma has no basis, it can be eradicated. 'Seeing' means penetrating the principle, 'thinking' means undertaking practice, 'eliminating' refers to the contemplating wisdom, and 'eradicating' refers to the contemplated karma. Breaking through delusion to reveal the true is not an instantaneous realization, and therefore all are termed 'partial' (fen). If classified according to stages: partial seeing and partial thinking refer to internal ordinary persons; partial eliminating and partial eradicating refer to those from the first fruition onward. From 'as...' downward, it illustrates with an analogy. Sleep and drunkenness illustrate delusion; waking and sobering illustrate awakening. Waking from sleep and sobering from drunkenness are analogous phenomena.
