第二懺殘，對治中。二罪各須先治情過，情即是心。據論諸篇，皆有情過；然初篇雖重，縱懺無用；下篇諸過，體非極重；故但直懺本罪，無勞預治。僧殘隣重，恐壞本體；事須繁累，不可輕略；唯斯悔法，獨異餘篇。

Second, repenting saṃghāvaśeṣa. Under 'Countermeasures': for each of the two offenses, one must first treat the emotional fault—'emotion' being the mind. In terms of discussion, all classes have emotional faults; however, although the first class is grave, even if repented it is useless; the various faults of the lower classes are fundamentally not extremely grave; therefore one simply directly repents the original offense without the trouble of preliminary treatment. Saṃghāvaśeṣa borders on the grave, so there is fear of ruining the original essence; the matter must be complicated and cannot be taken lightly; this deśanā method alone differs from the other classes.
