初科為三，初標指。名下，次牒解。名即同篇之通號，故云僧殘；種即十三之別相，故云漏失等。（有云漏失婬種類者，非也。）相謂成犯之數目，故云多少。律下，三引證。一名證通號，多種證別相。十三自為一聚，與餘不濫，故云住別異也。

The first section has three parts. First, it marks and points out. From "name" below, it next takes up and explains [the text]. "Name" is the common designation within the same category, hence it says "saṃghāvaśeṣa"; "type" is the distinct mark among the thirteen, hence it says "emission, and so forth" (some say it refers to types of seminal emission and unchaste behavior, which is incorrect). "Marks" refers to the number of completed offenses, hence it says "quantity". From "Vinaya" below, the third part cites proofs. One name proves the common designation; many types prove the distinct marks. The thirteen constitute a group of their own and are not confused with others, hence it says "residing distinct and different".
