顯格義中。九段，前五即依《了論》五方，後四即準律文別立。會合律論，布列行事；故前云格義，此標懺儀也。

In "Revealing the Categorized Principles": among the nine sections, the first five are based on the five methods of the Vinayadvāviṃśatividyā-śāstra, while the last four are separately established in accordance with the vinaya text. Combining the vinaya and the treatise, the practical procedures are laid out; hence it was previously called "categorized principles", while here it designates the repentance ritual.
