2.2097

四中，初令見僧。應下，二示作務。乃下，三明住處。若眾下，四明同利。身下，五明坐次。乃至下，六明供給。文同不出者，指〈師資篇〉。《十誦》中，初制在僧處。不同下《五分》。（有云此據正作法時者詳之。）二制同犯各坐。恐得同伴，心無慚故。三制顯處。文自出意。

In the fourth: first, he is made to see the saṃgha. From "should" below, second, it shows the work duties. From "even" below, third, it clarifies the living quarters. From "if the assembly" below, fourth, it clarifies sharing equal benefits. From "body" below, fifth, it clarifies the seating order. From "and even" below, sixth, it clarifies serving and attending. "Identical in text and not produced here" points to the "Chapter on Masters and Disciples". In the Daśādhyāya-vinaya: first, it restricts him to the place of the saṃgha. From "not the same" below is the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya (some say this is based on the actual time of conducting the legal procedure, which should be examined). Second, it restricts those with identical offenses to sit separately, fearing that if they find a companion, their minds will lack shame. Third, it restricts him to a conspicuous place; the text itself gives the intent.
