The precept on stealing. (The Buddha was in Rājagṛha. The bhikṣu Dhaniya built a tiled hut in a quiet place. The Buddha ordered it demolished, so he thereupon took the king's timber. The king's ministers reprimanded him, and on this account it was prohibited.) The Commentary states: "Unlawfully causing loss is called stealing (dào); taking openly is called robbery (jié); fearing the owner's awareness is called theft (tōu). The name 'stealing' universally encompasses them, and therefore it is specifically designated."
