第五。（佛在羅閱祇，迦羅比丘善知俗法，與俗為媒，招譏故制。）名標人者，簡餘類故。疏云：媒，謀也；計度二姓，用為好合。

The fifth [saṃghāvaśeṣa]. (When the Buddha was in Rājagṛha, the bhikṣu Kāla, who was skilled in secular customs, acted as a matchmaker for laypeople, incurring ridicule; hence it was established.) The name marking "person" is to exclude other categories. The Commentary says: "matchmaking" (*mei*) means scheming (*mou*); calculating two clans so as to bring about their harmonious union.
