斥闕略中。晉即河東，魏即相部，關輔即關中三輔。（左馮翊，右扶風，中京兆，共輔長安。）廢興，即如前用舍。刪補字傳誤，累得古本，並云補闕。（古今傳講，既無霑述，豈得有刪；準古為定。）此明從古未論，方今考定；則垂範後昆，光逾前代矣。

In criticizing omissions and deficiencies: Jin refers to Hedong; Wei refers to Xiangbu; Guanfu refers to the Three Auxiliaries of Guanzhong (Zuo Fengyi, You Fufeng, and Zhong Jingzhao, which jointly assisted Chang'an). "Abolition and revival" refers to the aforementioned adoption and abandonment. The characters shānbǔ ("abridging and supplementing") are a scribal error; repeatedly acquired ancient editions all read bǔquē ("supplementing deficiencies"). (In transmissions and lectures from antiquity to the present, since there were no added explanations, how could there be abridgment? One must take the ancient as the standard.) This shows that from ancient times it was never discussed, and only now is it examined and determined; thus handing down a model to posterity, its brilliance surpasses previous generations.
