Under the explanation: the treatise explains that when the slanderer is stubborn and perverse, the saṃgha has a method to subdue him. First, it instructs the saṃgha to deliberate slowly. From "If..." downward presents his request for a judgment. The treatise says in full: "If he says: 'Let the saṃgha judge this offense for me without delay; if it is so, I shall uphold it; if it is not so, I shall not accept it.'" (Accept means hold fast; this is speech seeking judgment from both alternatives.) From "The saṃgha..." downward shows three methods to subdue him. First, instructing them to delay. "Míng" means dark. From "Still..." downward next orders him to leave the boundary. From "Thus seeking a monastery..." downward finally explains deciding it for him. "Nuò" means soft and weak.
