第十。（佛在羅閱祇，提婆教人害佛，惡名流布，利養斷絕，便別眾食，為佛訶責；因即破僧，舉過設諫，因制。）戒名中。破僧有二，一立五法化世，破四依八正，名破法輪僧。二同界各作眾法，名破羯磨僧。僧作白四法諫，三諫不捨，犯殘；餘三戒竝爾。

The tenth. (When the Buddha was in Rājagṛha, Devadatta instructed people to harm the Buddha; evil reputation spread, his offerings were cut off, and he ate separately from the assembly, for which he was rebuked by the Buddha; thereupon he split the saṃgha, was admonished by bringing up his fault, and it was instituted because of this.) In the name of the precept: splitting the saṃgha is twofold. First, establishing five dharmas to convert the world, splitting the four reliances and the eightfold noble path, which is called splitting the saṃgha of the Dharma wheel. Second, performing saṃgha karmas separately within the same boundary, which is called splitting the saṃgha of karmas. The saṃgha performs the jñapticatūrthā karmavācanā to admonish him; if he does not desist after three admonitions, he incurs a saṃghāvaśeṣa; the other three precepts are likewise.
