車船中，初列名。並在陸地者，車無入水，何須簡陸！據義合云俱在地住，言相方顯。律下，引示。初明住量。迴轉取周圓內地。十下，明行量，初明行車。約多車相接為言。杖所及者，杖即駕車人所持。《僧祇》下，明行船。多住處者，即一船中前後各據也。

Regarding carts and boats, it first lists the names. "Both being on dry land": a cart cannot enter the water, so why need it be restricted to dry land? According to the principle, it ought to say that both stay on land; only then are the marks evident. "The Vinaya..." below cites and demonstrates. First, it clarifies the measurement when at rest: turning takes the inner ground of the circumference. "Ten..." below clarifies the measurement when in motion, first clarifying a moving cart. It speaks with reference to multiple carts linked together. "Reached by a staff": a staff is that held by the person driving the cart. "The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya..." below clarifies a moving boat. "Multiple dwelling places" means occupying the front and back separately within a single boat.
