In other schools, regarding the boundary of walking on a road: the first passage first clarifies the measurement of the boundary. Forty-nine fathoms, with one fathom being eight chǐ, calculates to thirty-nine zhàng, two chǐ, totaling sixty-five paces and a remainder. "The Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā..." below clarifies the length and breadth: it means measuring in the four directions from the person's body. "The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya..." below resolves doubts and objections: being separated [from one's robes] and committing an offense on the road seems to have no outer measurement, so it is resolved based on trees and araṇyas being distinct boundaries.
