別釋中，初謂有緣界外令捨受法。不同對僧作法開離，故注簡之。二中，分二，初乞法中。注云三十者，即開乞分齊。舊記云：《多論》作七十，然律文《戒疏》並作三十，未詳孰是。如疏即《戒疏》離衣戒中，廣明緣相；必約人病衣重，方成作法，互有不成。次作迦絺者。羯磨受已開五月離，亦同對僧作法故，如自恣中。三對處中。非謂開離，結攝衣已，藍外界內，同不失故。四如後戒。五即當戒開通。六謂夏竟通開一月。七亦出蘭若離衣戒。但約賊難別緣為異耳。

Under "Detailed Explanation": the first refers to having a cause outside the boundary that leads one to relinquish the reception [of the robes]. It is unlike performing the ritual facing the saṅgha to grant separation [from the robes], so the note differentiates it. Under the second, it is divided into two: first, under requesting the ritual. The note stating "thirty" is the limit for granting the request. The Old Record states: "The Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā has seventy, yet both the text of the Vinaya and the Precept Commentary have thirty; it is not yet known which is correct." "As the Commentary": that is, under the precept against separation from robes in the Precept Commentary, the marks of causes are extensively explained; it must depend on the person being ill and the robes being heavy for the performance of the ritual to be accomplished, whereas missing either, it is unaccomplished. Next, "making the kathina": having received [the kathina] through a karmavācanā, one is permitted separation for five months, which also resembles performing the ritual facing the saṅgha, as in the Pravāraṇā. Under the third, "Facing the Location": this does not mean granting separation; after bounding and subsuming the robes, outside the monastery grounds but inside the boundary, both equally do not involve loss [of the robes]. The fourth is as in the subsequent precept. The fifth is the broad exception of the present precept itself. The sixth refers to broadly permitting one month after the summer retreat ends. The seventh also comes from the precept against separation from robes in an araṇya, but is differentiated solely with respect to the distinct cause of danger from bandits.
