Under "Not Ceasing": first it explains the five perceptions. "Perception of damage" refers to old decay and so forth. In the note, it first explains non-offense. The two lines below "resolving" explain the intention behind losing the reception [status]. The two lines below "without" explain the intention behind non-offense. Next, quoting the Samantapāsādikā to reconcile contradictions: the first line points to the treatise. That is the previous text on traveling-boundary. "The master..." below brings out the treatise's intention. Merely suspecting it is outside, the passage of dawn causes loss of the ritual, without concern for losing the physical object. "This..." below brings out the intention of the present Vinaya, whose difference from the above is evident. "If..." below next lists the various causes. All are exceptions due to hardship. "This..." below judges collectively: the five perceptions, bandits, beasts, and so on are subjective obstructions (citta-pratibandha); the severance of water and land routes are spatial obstructions.
