Under the fourth: in the Daśādhyāya-vinaya, prior invitations and preaching the Dharma are both due to distinct causes, not the original intent. In the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya, having no prior intention is to prevent preparatory action. One should observe the bhikṣuṇī, because deliberation is prescribed. "According to..." below determines the intention of the exception. The precept prohibits taking robes, yet permits receiving gifts; prohibition and exception are hard to align, so it is judged according to the mind. Below, citing the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya confirms the bhikṣuṇī's giving, clarifying that there is that which can be taken. However, greedy thoughts are difficult to recognize; facing the object, who is free of them? Although there is lenient text, one should follow the strict prohibition. Do not rely on these words to deceive oneself and deceive others.
