In the *Upāsakaśīla-sūtra*, this refers to the converting teaching and the separation and combination of the ten karmas: first it clarifies that doing it oneself and instructing others establishes karma simultaneously. At most it reaches eight; it cannot reach ten because the three mental karmas do not arise simultaneously. Below, it reveals the marks based on false views and foolishness of mind, stating provisionally that greed and anger cannot occur at the same time; if one adduces greedy karma, there is no anger or delusion; anger is likewise. Below that, it shows the marks. Outside of the seven paths of action, it combines one mental karma, so it can form eight. Furthermore, for the three mental karmas, one cannot instruct others; of the seven paths of body and speech, six can be assigned to an agent; sexual misconduct must be committed by oneself, which is why the two matters in the text must be based on doing it oneself. If based on the Vinaya, instructing someone to engage in sexual misconduct incurs a thullaccaya; this refers to the fundamental karma, so it is not discussed here. As for "other poisons", the ten wholesome paths of the converting teaching forbid the wrong and allow the right. "Without courses of action" means the false view of nihilistic denial, which is the karma of delusion; but because delusion is pervasive and difficult to reveal, it merely cites its distinctive marks.
