釋初緣中，初科，前簡所誦。二聖二凡，則通四人。《智論》更加化人。若口下，示犯相，初結同誦犯。口授即同誦。書授謂已誦他書。若師下，結不教犯。凡欲授法，必先誡之；縱不同聲，不教亦犯。

In explaining the first condition, under the first heading, the text first screens what is recited. The two noble and two ordinary extend to four kinds of persons. The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa further adds transformed persons. Below "if by mouth," it shows the marks of violation, first concluding the violation of reciting together. Oral instruction is identical to reciting together. Written instruction refers to having recited while the other writes down. Below "if the master," it concludes the violation of not instructing. Whenever intending to confer the Dharma, one must first admonish them; even if not uttering sounds together, not instructing them also constitutes a violation.
