次文，《僧祇》三節，初是無法不答。若已下，明有法開答。因下，引緣誡約。女人偈詞，上半明所應作不作，下半示不應作反作，此言深切；有信聞之，能無愧乎！《十誦》中答詞。乃是護法綱紀，遮俗輕慢故也。

In the next passage, the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya has three clauses: the first is not answering when there is no Dharma-pretext. From "If already..." onward, it clarifies that when there is a Dharma-pretext, answering is permitted. From "Because..." onward, it cites the background circumstances as an admonition. In the woman's verse lines, the first half clarifies not doing what ought to be done, while the second half shows doing the reverse of what should not be done. These words are profound and incisive; can those with faith hear them without shame! The words of reply in the Daśādhyāya-vinaya are meant to protect the order of the Dharma and prevent the contempt and slight of the laity.
