Under explaining detachment from the ground, it cites the vinaya: first, it explains the five living kinds. Universally, this is considered with respect to being in the ground. For willow and pomegranate branch-propagated plants, because the branches can be planted, detaching them from the ground also constitutes an offense. 榴 means pomegranate. Next, it explains what are not the five living kinds. With the sole exception of branch-propagated plants, other things detached from the ground are categorized in a three-fold determination in the text, which can be seen upon examination. The huái and the huǐ are of the same kind; those with fine, green leaves are called huái, while those with large, black leaves are called huǐ. Those still connected to the ground still pertain to the living.
