第八有三，初判香爐，前約量判輕。準《十誦》者，亦半斗也。有下，簡寶飾。捉寶制者，《戒本》云：及寶裝飾具故。若下，簡過量。根本下，簡所屬。如上處分，即約量輕重也。次判佛法供具。竝同兩判。不同香爐可約斗量，故但云輕可隨身者。三判數珠。注別屬者，由是輕小，得自受用，而無改賣不定之義，故偏判輕。（必有市販亦重。）儀云：木槵珠貫雜色偽寶所成之珠，在機正要，勿過數法；投接下根，牽課修業；可準《多論》，似寶雜色，開為百一物者，得如法用，宜斷輕收；餘木竹等，例此分也。

The eighth item has three parts. First, the ruling on censer[s]: earlier it was ruled light on the basis of capacity; following the Daśādhyāya-vinaya, it is also half a dou. The phrase 'If there are...' screens out precious decorations: regarding the prohibition against handling jewels, the Prātimokṣa-sūtra says, 'and jewel-decorated utensils,' hence this rule. The phrase 'If under...' screens out exceeding the capacity. The phrase 'Originally under...' screens out [to whom] it belongs. 'Disposing of it as above' means [judging] heavy or light by its capacity. Next is the ruling on articles of offering for the Buddha and the Dharma: both follow the two rulings; unlike censers, which can be measured by the dou, it merely says 'light ones that can be carried on the person.' Third is the ruling on rosaries: the note 'separately belonging to...' means that because they are light and small, one may use them for oneself, and they lack the quality of being changeable or sellable in an unfixed manner; hence they are specifically ruled as light. (If they are definitely merchandise for sale, they are also heavy.) The Ritual says: Beads made of soapberry seeds, cords of variegated colors, or imitation gems, being fundamentally essential for the faculty, should not exceed the counted rules; they are to receive those of inferior capacity, spurring and tasking them to cultivate their practice; one may follow the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā, where those resembling jewels or of variegated colors are permitted as one of the hundred-and-one items; if obtained and used according to the Dharma, they should appropriately be classified as light; other materials such as wood and bamboo are divided by analogy to this.
