3.325

三中，《四分》，初明制斷。為我、大祀，二皆不淨。今下，顯意。毘下，指同。次明開食。前與肉者，須行十善；豈有行十善者而有肉耶？故云何由得肉等。鳥殘，《多論》犯吉。

In the third: the Dharmaguptaka first explains the prohibition. "For my sake" and "great sacrifice"—both are impure. Below "Now," the meaning is revealed. Below "Vi[-naya]," it points out the agreement. Next, explaining the exception to eat: previously, those to whom meat was given had to practice the ten wholesome deeds; how could someone practicing the ten wholesome deeds possess meat? Hence it says: by what means could one obtain meat, etc.? Bird leavings: the Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā makes it a duṣkṛta.
