《僧祇》。一覆即上通屋覆，下別隔斷；通隔即四周通圍，各別屋覆；餘二句準知。一二三邊，約相連處；隔道兩邊，約相隔處；中間不淨，即大界也。

In the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya: "One covering" means a single continuous roof above, but partitioned below; "continuous partition" means surrounded completely on all four sides, but with separate roofs; the other two clauses can be understood accordingly. "One, two, or three sides" is said regarding where they connect; "the two sides across a road" is said regarding where they are separated; "impure in between" refers to the great boundary.
