In the sixth section: 'Borders' (堤) means crosswise borders, like the dikes of a field. The Protocols for Robes states: 'The appearance of strips and borders is functionally identical to agricultural fields, like dyked plots storing water to nourish fine sprouts, metaphorically showing that wearing this robe engenders merit; the Buddha ordering it to resemble this was not without purpose.'
