七中，初文，《五百問》二段，初明制用。彼判犯墮，準《律》應吉。若下，次明開離。雖不失法，非無違教。下引《五分》緣開不用。歠，昌悅反，大欱也。（欱，呼令反。）苦，猶患也。

In the seventh section, the first text: In the *Five Hundred Questions*, there are two paragraphs. First, it clarifies the regulation of its use. That text judges it as incurring a pāyattika, but according to the *Vinaya* it should be a duṣkṛta. From "If" onward, it next clarifies exceptions for separation. Although one does not lose the formal status, it is not without violating the teaching. Below, the *Mahiśāsaka-vinaya* is cited for an exceptional condition in which it is not used. *Chuò* (sip) is read with the fanqie *chāng-yuè*, meaning a large gulp. (*Hè* [gulp] is read with the fanqie *hū-lìng*.) *Kǔ* (bitterness) is like suffering or hardship.
