In the Dàzhìdù lùn, the first part generally screens the giver and receiver. Among the four permutations, it only presents the first permutation, meaning the giving mind is without revulsion while the recipient has greed and defilement; the second permutation is the reverse of the above; the third is both being pure; the fourth is both being impure. Among the four, only when both are pure is it called "giving"; the other three are not giving. The text from "If" onwards specifically indicates the recipient of the gift. Lacking precepts is having shallow virtue; lacking wisdom is foolishness and darkness. "Copper stake" is another name for hell.
