In the fourth [section], two passages of treatises are cited. In the first passage, the first three lines broadly state the main idea. From 'knowing' onward, it takes up and explains them. The six meanings are generally a respectful mind, specifically divided among the three karmas; the two words 'reverence and respect' (*gongjing*) necessarily include the body as well. Moreover, it is generally discussed in terms of the subject who respects; the two words 'honour and esteem' (*zunzhong*) then include the object of respect. From 'it is also said' onward, the next passage is cited, where the above raises the metaphor: the Buddha is like a fertile field, single-minded focus is like good seed, and firm attachment is like casting seed into the field. From 'accordingly' onward is the application to the Dharma: the one good deed and so on is the cause, and reaching Buddhahood is the effect. From 'by' onward reveals the intent.
