The next section. The *Mahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra* and *Lokadhāra-sūtra* both relate the Tathāgata's intention in bequeathing his bodily remains: wishing to demonstrate that reverence receives an exceedingly profound recompense. Hemp, rice, and mustard seeds all serve as comparisons for the relics. The *Lokadhāra-sūtra* (*Chishi jing*) has four fascicles, the first saying: 'Although I have now attained anuttarabodhi, I still make unceasing vigor; even when arriving at nirvāṇa, I still arouse vigor, breaking my bodily bones into pieces like mustard seeds. Why? Out of compassion for future sentient beings, and so that those who ought to be delivered through relics may attain purity of mind.'
