In the eighth [part], the Mahāsāṃghika first prohibits not waiting for one another. This applies solely to the senior monk. "Hurried like a wolf (langbei)": that beast has a violent disposition, taken here as a metaphor for excessive haste; the character bei is pronounced bugai in fanqie, or written as bei (狽). From "furthermore" downwards, next it clarifies leftover food. Fearing it might be thought that the saṃgha's leftovers should not be given to the laity, in accordance with this it clearly allows it, but it should be prohibited inside the monastery.
