In the eleventh section: In the Daśādhyāya-vinaya, it first instructs on speaking skillfully. The "true nature of all phenomena" in phrasing applies to both Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna; but relying for now on the Hīnayāna teaching, it refers to one-sided emptiness. From "This [way]..." down, it orders reproving and stopping [them]. One must observe right and wrong, and not follow [personal] likes and dislikes. From "Also..." down, it allows expounding broadly. Provided it does not go against the meaning, one may expand it as one wishes. Expressing the meaning is permissible, but facing the text it is not permitted; this is because it is a holy decree, not to be mixed with ordinary words. (Nowadays there are crude-minded people who rashly write commentaries on the holy scriptures; judging by this precedent, their fault is by no means light or trivial.) In the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya: One accepts the donation because there was originally no intention. In the Daśādhyāya-vinaya: The reason one must not eat while preaching is that one would not be receiving attentively.
