練若中。汎話，謂問疾安慰，以為勸誘之端。捨座，即分半座與迦葉坐；捨衣，謂脫所著衣，易彼糞掃衣披之。

Under Araṇya: "Casual conversation" means inquiring about the illness and offering comfort as a preliminary means of encouragement. "Ceding the seat" means sharing half his seat for Kāśyapa to sit upon; "ceding the robe" means taking off the robe he wore and exchanging it for the other's rag-robe to put on.
