三中，初示經像。引《華嚴》為證。經文兩偈，傳寫訛脫；此出〈賢首菩薩品〉，初偈云：又放光明名見佛，彼光覺悟命終者；念佛三昧必見佛，命終之後生佛前。次偈脫初句，彼云：見彼命終勸念佛，方接鈔中三句；若新譯本云：又放光明名見佛，此光覺悟將終者；令隨憶念見如來，命終得生其淨國。（此偈贊佛果一光明功德。）見有臨終勸念佛，及示尊像令瞻敬；俾於佛所深歸仰，是故得成此光明。（此偈讚佛因中修此光明之行。）

In the third [section], first it indicates the sūtras and images. It cites the Avataṃsaka as proof. In the sūtra text, two verses were corrupted and omitted in the course of copying. This comes from the 'Chapter on the Bodhisattva Bhadraśrī.' The first verse states: 'Again emitting light named "seeing the Buddha," / That light awakens those whose lives are ending; / In the Buddha-contemplation samādhi they will surely see the Buddha, / And after life ends they will be born before the Buddha.' In the next verse, the first line is missing; that [original] states: 'Seeing those whose lives are ending, one encourages mindfulness of the Buddha'—only then does it connect with the three lines in the manual. According to the new translation, it states: 'Again emitting light named "seeing the Buddha," / This light awakens those about to die, / Causing them to see the Tathāgata through recollection, / And at the end of life to be born in his pure land.' (This verse praises the merit of a light of the Buddha's fruit.) 'Seeing one at the end of life, one encourages mindfulness of the Buddha, / And displays the revered image to cause them to gaze in reverence, / Enabling them to take deep refuge in the Buddha; / Therefore one is able to accomplish this light.' (This verse praises the Buddha's practice cultivating this light while on the cause-stage.)
