The second section. Saying 'explaining as follows' means the commentary cites its explanation. First, explaining saṃgha: the upper two lines indicate it, and the phrase 'due to...' discriminates the differences. Precepts and views are harmony in practice; samādhi and wisdom are harmony in principle. Here it only takes practice, not principle. In the text there are many redundant negative characters 'not'; having collated it with an old edition and checked against the explanation below, there is no doubt it was a scribal error. (The old commentary did not know this, and gave erroneous explanations following the text.) The phrase 'the Buddha...' and so forth explains separately; this is intelligible. Next, *vaśeṣa*: this explains the meaning of 'remainder' in terms of the remainder of offerings obtained. This refers to one who performs probation (parivāsa) seeking repentance; if one violates without repenting, one does not share in the saṃgha's gains. Afterwards, explaining the two names: because the meaning of saṃgha broadly runs through three dharmas, and *parivāsa* means separate dwelling here; although the text does not list it, the meaning is seen in the text above; hence it only presents two dharmas, which are the six nights of rehabilitation (mānatta).
