'Those bhikṣus should admonish this bhikṣu, saying: "Venerable, do not yourself refuse words of admonition. The venerable himself ought to accept words of admonition. The venerable should admonish the bhikṣus according to the Dharma, and the bhikṣus will also admonish the venerable according to the Dharma. In this way, the community of the Buddha's disciples will flourish—by mutually admonishing one another, mutually instructing one another, and mutually repenting to one another." If, when this bhikṣu is thus admonished, he persists obstinately without desisting, those bhikṣus ought to admonish him up to three times so that he might abandon this matter. If, up to three admonitions, he abandons it, that is well; if he does not abandon it, it is a saṃghāvaśeṣa.'
