If another forbids him, saying, "Do not do this; you should not act like this," yet he intentionally does it, he commits the root [offense]; because of not obeying the words, it is a duṣkṛta. If he himself knows, "What I am doing is wrong," yet intentionally does it, he commits the root [offense]; if he does not obey the words, it is a prāyaścittika. There is no offence if an unwise person comes to admonish him and he replies, saying: "You should ask your teacher and preceptor (upādhyāya), study further, recite the sūtras, and learn the method of admonition; if you admonish properly, I shall heed it." If one speaks in jest, speaks to oneself, speaks in a dream, or intends to say this but says that, there is no offence.
