"May the venerable saṃgha listen! I, a bhikṣu, proclaim for the saṃgha the inner and outer markers of the four directions of the mahāsīmā. First proclaim the inner markers: from such-and-such marker about two cubits outside the marker at the southeast corner of the outer markers of the platform for precepts (this refers to what is present at the time; do not recite the text verbatim)—this is such-and-such marker at the southeast corner of the inner markers of the mahāsīmā; from here turning west to such-and-such marker at the southwest corner; from here turning north to such-and-such marker at the northwest corner; from here turning east to such-and-such marker at the northeast corner; and from here turning south, returning to such-and-such marker at the southeast corner. Next, proclaim the outer markers: from such-and-such marker at the southeast corner of this dwelling place, turning west to such-and-such marker at the southwest corner; from here turning north to such-and-such marker at the northwest corner; from here turning east to such-and-such marker at the northeast corner; and from here turning south, returning to such-and-such marker at the southeast corner. Those are the inner markers, and these are the outer markers. This concludes one full circuit of the inner and outer markers of the mahāsīmā." (Proclaim this three times.)
