（佛言：「有四種淨地：一者檀越淨，若為僧作伽藍，未施與僧；二者院相不周淨，若僧住處半有籬障，都無籬障，若垣、若牆、若塹、若柵，亦如是；三者處分淨，初作僧伽藍時，檀越若經勞人處分，如是言：『某處為僧作淨地』；四者僧作白二羯磨結，若疑先有淨地，應解已更結。」）

(The Buddha said, "There are four kinds of pure grounds: first, pure ground of a dānapati, when a saṃghārāma is built for the saṃgha but has not yet been bestowed upon the saṃgha; second, pure ground lacking complete boundary enclosures, when the saṃgha's dwelling place only has half a hedge or barrier, or entirely lacks a hedge or barrier, and likewise with earthen walls, masonry walls, moats, or palisades; third, pure ground by designation, when first constructing a saṃghārāma, the dānapati or overseer designates it, saying: 'Such-and-such place is made a pure ground for the saṃgha'; fourth, bound by the saṃgha through a jñapti-dvitīya-karman. If it is suspected that a pure ground previously existed, it should be released and then rebound.")
