（其文如上僧中所說。懺悔主應為分別罪名及種與相也。名謂六聚差別，種謂畜長、離衣三十事異，相謂一多不同。故《律》云：「一名多種，住別異。」佛言：「若犯僧殘罪，乃至突吉羅。知而覆藏者，應先教作突吉羅懺，後如法懺。故知前須委問、然後教悔。」）

(The text is as spoken in the Saṃgha above. The deśanā master should distinguish for him the name, class, and marks of the offense. 'Name' refers to the distinctions among the six classes of offenses; 'class' refers to the thirty different matters such as keeping extra robes and being separated from robes; 'marks' refers to differences in number, whether one or many. Thus the Vinaya states: 'One name has many classes, which abide distinctly.' The Buddha said: 'If one commits a saṃghāvaśeṣa offense down to a duṣkṛta, and knowingly conceals it, one should first be instructed to confess the duṣkṛta, and afterward confess [the root offense] according to the Dharma.' Therefore we know that one must first interrogate thoroughly, and only then instruct him to confess.)
