(The Vinayamātṛkā states: "If five people dwell together and one dies, they must not perform serial distribution." The procedure set out in the Vinaya is somewhat incomplete. Now, in accordance with the untimely donation received by the saṃgha, the karman contains the words for serial distribution; therefore, five people and above must use this procedure. The Vinaya text states: "One person should be appointed to distribute them by a jñapti-dvitīya-karman, and give them like this." Some maintain three rounds of procedure, but this reading of the text is not definitive; there are also those who maintain two rounds of procedure. Now, in accordance with the karman text, which contains both the entrustment and the distribution procedures, while other [methods] do not exist, they are not presented. In accordance with the Vinaya, the karman states:)
