一切不得妄語乃至戲笑。若比丘不真實，非己有，自說言我得上人法、得禪、得解脫、得定、得四空定，得須陀洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿羅漢果，天來、龍來、鬼神來供養我；非沙門，非釋種子。譬喻者說言：猶如大石破為二分，終不還合；比丘亦如是，犯波羅夷法已，終不還成比丘行。汝是中盡形壽不得作，能持不？（答言：）能。

"You must not speak falsely at all, down to even in jest. If a bhikṣu, untruthfully and without possessing it himself, proclaims of himself: 'I have attained the dharmas of a superior person, attained dhyāna, attained liberation, attained samādhi, attained the four formless absorptions, attained the fruit of srotāpanna, the fruit of sakṛdāgāmin, the fruit of anāgāmin, or the fruit of arhat; gods come, nāgas come, and spirits come to make offerings to me,' he is no longer a śramaṇa, nor a son of the Śākya. The author of the simile says: Just as a large rock broken into two pieces can never be joined back together; so too is a bhikṣu: after violating a pārājika dharma, he never again restores his conduct as a bhikṣu. In this you must not engage for the rest of your life. Can you maintain this?" (He answers, saying:) "I can."
