Procedure for taking possession of a deceased bhikṣu's goods: (At that time, the bhikṣus divided the saṃgha's orchards, fields, and fruit trees; also divided individual rooms and goods belonging to individual rooms; also divided bronze vessels, bronze basins, caldrons, cauldrons, and heavy articles; also divided rope beds, wooden beds, sitting cushions, sleeping cushions, and pillows; also divided eriyanta, morā, momorā, and woolen rugs; also divided carts and palanquins, and monastery servants (ārāmika); also divided water vessels, washbasins, monk's staffs (khakkhara), and fans; also divided iron-made utensils, wood-made utensils, ceramic-made utensils, leather-made utensils, and bamboo-made utensils. The Buddha said: "These should not be divided; they belong to the saṃgha of the four directions. Woolen rugs (three cubits wide, five cubits long, with hairs three fingers long), razors, robes, alms bowls, sitting cloths (niṣīdana), needle cases, garment storage vessels, and kuyara vessels—the saṃgha present should divide [these]." First make this distinction, and then perform the procedure.)
