「復有三學：增戒、增心、增慧學。何等增戒學？若有比丘具滿戒行，少行定行，少行慧行，彼斷下五使，便於上涅槃，不復還此。若不能至如是處，能薄三結：貪欲、瞋恚、癡，得斯陀含來生世間，便盡苦際。若不能至如是處，能斷三結，得須陀洹，不墮惡趣，決定取道，七生天上、七生人中，便盡苦際。若比丘具滿戒行，具滿定行，少行慧行，亦如上。若比丘具滿戒行，具滿定行，具滿慧行，亦如上。」

"Furthermore, there are three trainings: the higher training in morality, the higher training in mind, and the higher training in wisdom. What is the higher training in morality? If a bhikṣu completes the practice of morality fully, practices the practice of concentration only a little, and practices the practice of wisdom only a little, he severs the five lower fetters and thereupon attains nirvāṇa in the higher realms, not returning here. If he is unable to reach such a stage, but is able to attenuate the three fetters—lust, anger, and delusion—he attains the status of sakṛdāgāmin and, returning to be born in the world once more, puts an end to the limits of suffering. If he is unable to reach such a stage, but is able to sever the three fetters, he attains the status of srotāpanna, will not fall into the evil destinies, is fixed in attaining the path, and after seven rebirths in the heavens and seven rebirths among humans, puts an end to the limits of suffering. If a bhikṣu completes the practice of morality fully, completes the practice of concentration fully, and practices the practice of wisdom only a little, it is also as above. If a bhikṣu completes the practice of morality fully, completes the practice of concentration fully, and completes the practice of wisdom fully, it is also as above."
