不得故斷眾生命乃至蟻子。若式叉摩那故自手斷人命，求刀授與人，教死、勸死、讚死，若與人非藥，若墮人胎，厭禱呪術，自作、教人作；非式叉摩那，非釋種女。若斷畜生不能變化者命，犯戒，應更與戒。是中盡形壽不得犯，能持不？（答言：）能。

"You must not intentionally deprive any sentient being of life, down to an ant. If a śikṣamāṇā intentionally deprives a human being of life with her own hand, procures a knife and gives it to someone, instructs someone to die, urges them to die, praises death, gives someone deadly poison, causes an abortion, or uses curses or spells, doing so herself or having another do so—she is no longer a śikṣamāṇā, no longer a daughter of the Śākyas. If she deprives of life an animal incapable of transformation, she commits a breach of the precepts and must be granted the precepts again. In this matter, you must not violate it for the rest of your life. Can you maintain it?" (She answers:) "I can."
