"This item is improper for me; you should know it." (Or say:) "Know this, watch over this." (Or, if receiving it for the sake of the Buddha, Dharma, and so forth, when receiving it she should make the declaration of purification. The declaration of purification should say:) "Know this, watch over this." (If she does not say to that person:) "Know this, watch over this," [she commits] a duṣkṛta. (If relying on the Sarvāstivāda procedure for making purification by gift, for all precious items such as coins, one should first seek out a lay purificatory attendant who understands the Dharma. Having spoken so that he understands the meaning, one further says:) "It is the rule for me, a bhikṣuṇī, not to store money or precious items; I now take the dānapati as the master of purification. Any money or valuables obtained later are completely given to the dānapati." (If the master of purification dies or departs far away to another country, one should seek another master of purification. However, there are two kinds of declarations of purification: if a layperson brings money or valuables to give to the bhikṣuṇī, she merely says:) "This is an unallowable item; I ought not to store it. If it is made allowable, I will accept it." (This is the procedure for making it allowable. If the layperson says, "I give these valuables to the bhikṣuṇī," the bhikṣuṇī says to them:) "I ought not to store them." (The purificatory attendant replies, saying:) "Exchange them for allowable items and store those." (This is making them allowable. If the layperson does not say to exchange them for allowable items to store, and the bhikṣuṇī does not make the declaration of purification herself, but simply leaves it on the ground and goes away, then if there is a bhikṣuṇī, she should make the declaration of purification to her, and store it for whatever length of time. The wording of the declaration is as above.)
