Procedure for the ñatti to spread the kaṭhina robe. (The Vinaya says: Whether one obtains new cloth, cloth offered by a dānapati, or pāṃsukūla cloth. If it is new cloth, or if it is old cloth, patch it with new material to make it pure; if it is already washed, having washed it, quilt it to make it pure. It must not have been obtained through wrong livelihood, through hints, through instigation, kept overnight [uncut], or made pure through forfeiture. Arriving on that very day, it must conform to the Dharma, with borders attached on all four sides, and five strips making ten panels; if it exceeds this, it may also be accepted. One must personally wash, dye, stretch, full, cut it into ten panels, and sew it. It should be accepted before the saṃgha, and the ñatti should be made as follows:)
