Third, one verse and two lines clarify that the transformation Buddhas approach the retribution [body] to receive the Dharma of the precepts. Therein, the first line marks Rocana's original body as the place from which the transformation Buddhas emerge, so it must be marked. The next line brings up the number of transformation bodies. The next line clarifies that they hold and lead the great assembly, possessing the marks of a retinue. The next line reveals that principal and retinue all come together to where I, Rocana, am. The next line directly clarifies the receiving of the Dharma of the precepts. The next line clarifies the benefit of expounding the precepts: that this wondrous precept is supreme among all teachings, identical to the highest among the flavors of amṛta; being first expounded here, it is therefore called "the gate opening." Another explanation is that amṛta has three meanings: 1. corresponding to food relieving hunger, identical to the precepts collecting good qualities being internally provided; 2. corresponding to drink dispelling thirst, identical to the precepts collecting sentient beings providing rescue; 3. corresponding to medicine curing disease, identical to the precepts of restraining conduct cutting off evil. Therefore it is used as an analogy. Another explanation is that amṛta is an elixir of immortality which grants long life to those who consume it; by obtaining these precepts, life lasts until the limits of the future.
