Sixth, doing it oneself and instructing others has four propositions: 1. Doing it oneself without instructing others; 2. Instructing others without doing it oneself; 3. Both doing it oneself and instructing others; 4. Neither doing it oneself nor instructing others. The first two can be known. In the third, there are two cases: first, as when transgressing sexual misconduct, one instructs another to approach oneself, where one transgression incurs two offenses; if in terms of sleep or being coerced by enemies, there is no meaning of instructing others. Second, for the rest, instructing others and doing it oneself separately incur two offenses. As for the fourth proposition: seeing it done, rejoicing with it, praising its being done, and so forth—although not doing it oneself nor instructing others, it is nevertheless also a transgression. Therefore, these four pervade the transgressions of all ten precepts, all adjudicated as major [offenses].
